Description

We offer 2 different types of yoga:

Monday and Friday yoga:

This course is in the authentic Viniyoga tradition, which comes from a long line of Indian sages including Sri.T. Khrisnamacharya, TKV Desikashar and his son, Kausthub Desikashar.

In this course, you'll be offered a series of postures ("assanas") that will alternately call for stretching, then release in a precise chronology. Alternating action and relaxation will enable vital energy ("prana") to circulate in every part of your body.

You'll also learn to gradually synchronize your movements with your breathing, an essential element in the practice of yoga. The discipline of the breath ("pranayama") enables us to channel our mind and to internalize ourselves, as well as increasing our anchorage by being as close as possible to our bodily sensations.

As one of the most important principles of yoga is non-violence ("ahimsa"), particular attention will be paid to adapting postures to the individual (and not the other way round). Variations will be proposed in the form of simplifications or intensifications, and everyone will be encouraged to experiment with their own bodily limits.

NB 1: No prerequisites, but regular participation will enable you to experience the beneficial effects of yoga. It's advisable to practice on an empty stomach. Avoid eating just before class.

NB 2: these two types of yoga require no pre-requisites; everyone goes where they can.

Wednesday lunchtime yoga :

This yoga class is inspired by Hatha Yoga, following the method and teaching of Frans Moors, a pupil of the Indian master T.K.V. Desikachar.

The approach of Hatha-Yoga is to first learn to control the body, in order to learn to control the mind.

We could define Hatha-Yoga as a set of exercises that seek to achieve full awareness through the mastery of the cops by performing various physical postures and learning to control the breath.

The synchronization of conscious breathing and body movements not only enhances the performance and effectiveness of the exercises, but also helps us to better manage our emotions and stress.

Hatha yoga does not focus on the cult of the body; on the contrary, it harmonizes it so that we can forget about it and concentrate on the mental and spiritual.

The benefits of Hatha Yoga :

  • Strengthen and tone muscles
  • Improve concentration
  • Improve stress management
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Improve overall health
  • Improve the immune system
  • Improve flexibility
  • Relax and center the mind
  • Replenish energy
