Handball
A team sport developed in Denmark and Germany in the 1920s, handball - literally, die Hand (the hand) and der Ball (the ball), in German - combines fast play, contact, dynamism and explosiveness.
Description
We offer two types of activities:
- Training sessions with instructors
- Participation in university championships for ULiège students
Handball is a dynamic team sport played between two teams of seven players (six field players and one goalkeeper). The goal is simple: pass the ball by hand, create open spaces through passing and movement, and then score in the opponent’s goal. It’s a fast-paced sport that builds endurance, coordination, speed, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
Whether you’ve never touched a handball before or are already an experienced player, there’s a place for you!
Beginner Session
This session is open to anyone who wants to try handball, regardless of their athletic level. The main goal is to get moving, work up a sweat while having fun, and gradually learn the basics of handball in a friendly, pressure-free atmosphere. No prior experience is necessary—all you need is the desire to play. The main goal of this session is to have fun and meet new people.
Advanced Session
This session is for players who already have club experience. Some beginners may move up to the “advanced” level during the year if they wish, with the coaches’ approval. The level of play will be more intense, with training sessions focused on performance and competition. Throughout the year, the top players will be selected to represent the University of Liège in intercollegiate competitions.

- Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (beginners)
- Mondays from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (advanced)
Activities
- Mixed introductory and advanced training sessions
- Participation in the university championships for ladies or gents for players of confirmed level (only accessible to ULiège students). To join these teams, contact the instructors and register via the MonClub application, selecting the "Handball (university teams)" package displayed at 0€.
Cost
- Registration required (One annual membership fee only, regardless of the number of sports you participate in)
- ULiège students: €45
- Students from other universities, higher education institutions, and elementary and secondary schools: €50
- ULiège staff (and spouses): €65
- Staff at CHU-CHR Citadelle, ADEPS, and Eurogentec: €65
- ULiège alumni: €70
- Others (not listed above): €75

Registration and payment
- After creating your profile in the MonClub application , choose the "Handball" sports package. For this discipline (without additional membership fee), even if you have already paid your membership fee via the formula of another discipline, it is mandatory to choose the "Handball" formula displayed at €0.
NB: for participation in university championships (reserved for ULiège students) please also register in the"Handball - university teams" formuladisplayed at €0. - Proceed to payment from the application.
You can add a complementary package at any time via the application.
NB: Membership membership formulas include the price of ULiège sports membership and an additional fee where applicable. If you choose several sports formulas, you will only payone ULiège sports membership fee (the membership fee will be automatically deducted at the time of payment).
