Rowing
Imagine yourself rowing on a river alone or with friends. You glide, you split the water, you forget everything. A technical sport, a complete sport that harmoniously develops the body and endurance.
Most asked questions
Questions we ask about rowing
How often do we fall in the water?
Rowing is a sport that is practiced on the water, not in the water.
It is extremely rare to fall in the water, but it can happen.
Is rowing expensive?
No, given the highly sophisticated and expensive equipment, the additional section fee is 130€ per year, reduced to 90€ for students.
Where can you row in Liege?
On the Meuse, next to the big aviary after the RTBF - entrance by the rue du Parc, the white building.
Is it possible to row without competing?
Of course, most rowers do, but the competition is still very motivating.
Can I row all year round?
In principle, yes, but in case of severe weather conditions (storms, floods, drought, etc.), it is better to stay at home.
Is there an age limit for rowing?
It is advisable to start rowing when you are about 12 years old, but it depends on your child's development. There is no age limit and rowers over 70 are not uncommon. About half of the members are female.
Each pole has a suitable and good quality fleet.
Rowing School (suspended in July and August)
In complete safety, I learn the technique in individual boats or in teams in order to be autonomous and efficient.
- + More than 90% of new members do not know how to row and therefore attend the Rowing School. The learning cycle begins with a mandatory information session.
- The certificates : Bronze, Silver and Gold validate the progression during the year.
- In December, the section organizes a safety session in the pool.
Recreational rowing
Once the technique has been assimilated, I row alone or in a team, always with passion.
Occasionally, the recreational rower participates in rowing trips and/or small fun regattas.
The 15km and 25km skiff endurance certificates prepare you for long-distance trips.
University rowing
As a student in higher education, I want to be part of the university team.
I train during the year in order to be part of the 8+ student team. I participate in different interuniversity regattas.
Competitive rowing
From a sport activity, rowing becomes my sport.
The competitive rower aims for efficiency. To do so, he trains and participates in regional, national or international regattas, in Belgium and abroad.
Juniors can follow improvement courses during each school vacation.
Indoor rowing
After having progressively improved my physical condition (endurance, weight, cardio, ...), I participate in one of the challenges proposed each month. The highlight is the participation in the 24h relay of Télévie.
